Resident Evil 5 has now equalled Resident Evil 3 as the longest serving title in the series to remain at No.1 in the All Formats Chart, both with 3 weeks at the top. Capcom also manages to capitalise on no new entries making the Top 10 with a 2nd week of price promotion on Street Fighter IV boosting sales by 7% and launching up from No.7 to No.3.
Professor Layton isn’t far behind, down from No.3 to No.4, suffering a 40% fall in sales, but still managing to stay ahead of THQ’s WWE Legends of Wrestlemania which is also down one place to No.5.
Wheelman, which has been co-published by Ubisoft and the failing Midway, doesn’t quite manage to debut in the Top 10, instead being this week’s highest new entry at No.11.
Last year’s blockbusters, FIFA 09 and Call of Duty: World at War, and even 2007’s Christmas No.1, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are the star performers in the Top 10 this week. Both FIFA and World at War are up three places to No. 6 and No.7 respectively, whilst COD4 manages to reappear in the top 10 at No.9, up four places. The last time Modern Warfare broke into the top 10 was back in week 23 of 2008.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars drops two places in its second week of release, down from No.6 to No.8, while Ubisoft’s H.A.W.X. is dangerously close to crashing out of the Top 10 after dropping five places since last week.
There is also a re-entry for Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 at No.22, thanks to the release of the PS3 version of that title.
