After hopping up to No.1 to claim last weeks Christmas Number 1, FIFA 09 has humbly slipped back to No.2. The two racing games near the top of the charts, Need for Speed: Undercover and Mario Kart Wii, have switched places yet again. Whilst Lara Croft and James Bond do the same, with Tomb Raider: Underworld and Quantum of Solace also exchange chart positions.
Despite appearing to have less in common than Stephen Hawking and Cheryl Cole, it seems that Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2 and Sonic Unleashed like to stick together, as they all move up five places from 14th, 15th and 16th to No.9, No.10 and No.11 respectively.
There are no new entries and Prince of Persia is the only non-mover in this week’s chart, as the blue-blooded Arabian hero clings on to No.13. Following this are the two biggest winners making a re-appearance in the top 20 – Guitar Hero III soars up twenty-two places to No.14, and Mirror’s Edge manages a 12-place leap of faith up to No.15.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 has also made a comeback into the top 20, moving up 11 places in the league to No.17. The last re-appearance is from Grand Theft Auto IV, which just about manages to cling onto a Top 20 chart position.
Two high profile games have suffered from stock shortages this week, as both Wii Fit and Professor Layton disappear from the charts once again. Lets see if they show their faces next week.
