Stay tuned for the definitive verdict on our second trip to Albion later this week.
Sales of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 take a dive this week, falling 58%, and sales of FIFA 09 dropped 24%. The footy franchises make way for Ubisoft’s African adventure Far Cry 2, which debuts at Number 2. The open-world shooter sold 43% on Xbox 360, 33% on PS3 and 24% on PC. Check back soon for DarkZero’s word on whether it deserves these impressive sales figures.
There are two more entries in this week’s top 10, EA’s Dead Space launches at Number 6, an impressive start for an original non-casual IP. Rockstar’s latest Midnight Club rounds out the top 10, whilst Saints Row 2 drops two place to No. 5, to make way for the newcomers.
Microsoft have ended Nintendo’s long period of dominance, as the Xbox 360 now claims the best-selling versions of the majority of games in the top 10. Despite launching 19 weeks ago, Namco’s Family Ski has only just managed to break into the top 20 due to being bundled with Wii Fit at some retailers.
Other new entries this week that failed to make the top 20 include Moto GP 08 and Spiderman: Web of Shadows. Games that have dropped out of the top 20 since last week are Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Mercenaries 2, Lego Indiana Jones, Samba Di Amigo and De Blob. This week’s biggest faller in the top 20 was Family Trainer, dropping from 11th to 19th. The only game to rise anywhere since last week is Mario Kart DS, which came from just outside the Top 20 to 16th place this week.
