Despite sales falling 51% since its launch last week Call of Duty: World at War still managed to outsell FIFA 09 by 2.5 to 1. It also managed to better Call of Duty 4 by holding onto the top spot for a second successive week following its release.

EA’s latest release Need For Speed: Undercover couldn’t manage to outsell EA’s other big franchise FIFA 09, despite its brand-spanking newness, as sales of the hugely popular footy game jumped 28%, moving it from No.5 to No.2.

Mario Kart Wii must have used a mushroom to boost five places up the chart with a sales increase of 33%, taking it ahead of Need for Speed. At No.4 in the charts, the aforementioned Undercover has actually suffered the lowest first-week chart position for a next-generation Need for Speed title. Could the analysts be right for once?

Nintendo have gone from having just one title in the top 10 last week, to having three this week, as sales of Wii Fit spiked 45% moving it from No.11 to No.5. Wii Music also managed improved second-week sales up 67%, moving from No.14 to No.10 despite poor review scores.

Apart from Call of Duty: World at War, the only other title in the Top 10 to drop in sales since last week is Football Manager 2009 losing 55% in sales and falling from No.3 to No6.

The second-highest new entry is Tomb Raider: Underworld, which only just managed to outsell last years original Tomb Raider remake (Anniversary) by 6,700 units. Lara managed 51% of sales on PS3, 34% on Xbox 360 and the remaining 15% spread over Wii, DS and PC.

The only other new entry this week is Left 4 Dead which launched at No.13. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King plummeted heavily in sales (91% down), at No.2 last week it dropped completely out of the Top 20 this week, in large part due to Blizzard new download option.
