Last year, FIFA 09 held the top spot for two weeks before conceding to PES – but this years instalment of EA’s blockbuster footy franchise managed three weeks at No.1 before being pushed down.
Konami’s latest Pro Evo doesn’t manage to match the launch figures of its predecessor however, selling 39% less in its first week. But it did manage to be the bestselling PS3 game this week at least.
In fact, PS3 appears to be increasingly the format of choice for PES lovers, with 66% of copies being the Playstation version this year, compared to 57% last year. Forza 3 takes the crown of bestselling Xbox 360 game this week.
Nintendo-only Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics manages to stay ahead of the all-format launch of WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 at No.5. Meanwhile Uncharted 2 drops 53% in sales and four places in the chart, down to No.6.
Take 2 claim the fourth new entry in the Top 10 this week, as Borderlands manages a No.7 placing. Sadly for Wii Sports Resort, although it increased in sales by 3%, all of the new games this week pushed it down four places to No.8.
360-exclusive karaoke add-on Lips: Number One Hits debuts at No.33, while Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter manages to break into the top 40 in its second week, possibly borrowing some of Scribblenauts popularity as they are both developed by 5th Cell.
All of the new entries at the top of the chart this week mean that there haven’t really been any high climbers at all. In fact, only two games moved up more than one place, with both The Beatles: Rock Band and Batman: Arkham Asylum going up two places to No.35 and No.21 respectively.
Sadly, the biggest loser this week is Scribblenauts, which fell sixteen places down to No.37. Only you can prevent it from disappearing from the Top 40 completely next week.

I picked up Borderlands not really knowing what to expect after all the bumpf in the press about the Quazillion guns etc…. have to say though, I’ve been playing for a few hours and I’m loving it so far! I think the art style makes for an interesting game, and the mix of FPS and RPG just seems to blend really well! Anyone not yet deciced to get it, I can recommend it, it’s like a mad mix of Crackdown, Fallout 3, Oblivion and Mad Max! Great fun!

Not a hell of a lot tbh. You score XP for kills, completing missions/quests, selling/buying stuff all of which goes towards levelling up. Each time you level up you choose to spend your level up point on one of three skill trees (these differ per character class), you can specialise your character or you can opt for an all rounder, the choice is yours. The other RPG elements consist of choosing your equipment (rifles, shotguns, SMGs, pistols, revolvers, missile launchers, grenades, shields etc.). Other than that it’s basically an FPS with elements of vehicle combat.
I’ve been playing it in CoOp and it rules… we both loved Crackdown, and Borderlands is pretty much graphically in the same school… just much better IMHO. The only gripe I’ve got is that you’ll be iffing and arring about whether to buy an item (shotgun/shield in my case) only to then find one much better ½ an hour later in a loot drop from a Bandit. But then that’s the chance you take…
I can highly reccomend it, maybe rent it out first if you’re not sure, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but got it anyway, so glad I did! Hope this helps……?

Just spot on! You’ve made it sound awesome and just the right amount of RPG. I think it’s gonna be a buy when payday comes around. Thank you.
