Colin McRae: DiRT 2 also betters the previous game in the series, debuting at No.2. one place ahead of the No.3 placing managed by the original DiRT. These new entries push Batman: Arkham Asylum down to third place, with sales dropping by 60%. If you haven’t bought this game yet, then Ian thinks you’re mad.

Although The Beatles: Rock Band only managed fourth place, it’s still the highest chart position yet for a Rock Band game, and thanks to the high cost of the Limited Edition Instruments version (£180), it’s likely to have generated more money than some of the higher games in the chart.

IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey has had a great second week, with sales only dipping by 3%, and almost holding steady in the chart at No.7.

The other new entries are Championship Manager 2010 at No.13, followed by Mini Ninjas at No.14, which marks something of a departure coming from the development studio behind the Hitman and Kane & Lynch franchises.

TimeGate Studio’s Section 8 doesn’t quite make it into the top 20, and Cursed Mountain on the Wii just scrapes into the Top 40 at No.37. Left 4 Dead has also made a re-appearance at No.34, possibly thanks to the imminent DLC, and the news that there is more to come in the future.

The most notable disappearances from the charts are Champions Online, which debuted at No.16 last week, and [PROTOTYPE] which was at No.26 last week but is nowhere to be seen in the Top 40 this week. Killzone 2 also disappears from this full price chart, due to becoming a budget Platinum title.

Fifa 09 is the biggest loser that is still hanging on to a top 40 positioning, falling fourteen places to end up at No.39. Meanwhile, the host of new entries mean that the highest climber only went up a pitiful three places, as Mario Kart Wii moves from No.12 up to No.9.
