Ubi Pull Mind Quiz Due To Derogatory Content

It has been revealed that Ubisoft will pull the DS game Mind Quiz, a game similar to that of Brain Training, from sale due to it containing words that have been considered offensive. Reports cite that a poor performance in the game sees the player labelled as a ‘Spastic’ or in a worst case scenario a ‘Super Spastic.’ It goes without saying that both of these phrases are highly derogatory to people with disabilities and anyone with relations who have a disability. In fact, and in all honesty, most people would find the term very insulting, particularly when viewed in a game such as this. When questioned on the matter Ubisoft blamed the Japanese development team for the error while also placing blame on its own slack quality assurance.

As soon as we were made aware of the issue we stopped distribution of the product and are now working with retailers to pull the game off the market,” a spokesperson told the BBC. “The game was developed in Japan, and we unfortunately did not pick up on the offending word in our quality assurance,” said the publisher.
