Super Street Fighter IV unveiled – *UPDATE* More details & pics

*Update*

GameSpot have confirmed the existence of Super Street Fighter IV, and revealed a few more juicy details about this new version of the fighting classic.

First off, SSFIV will not be DLC. It will come as a seperate boxed product, but will not be sold at full retail price. Apparently this decision was made because the gameplay and feature tweaks that will be included in the ‘Super’ version make it incompatible with the original game. Capcom have said that current SFIV owners will receive an undisclosed bonus in the new game when it’s released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in Spring 2010.

There will be roughly eight new characters, but T. Hawk, and new female fighter Juri are the only two that have been confirmed so far. The existing roster of fighters will also be receiving some balance tweaks too, ones that are based almost entirely on community feedback from Street Fighter IV. Super Street Fighter IV will also be granting the combatants with additional ultra combos, and features an ‘enhanced’ online experience.

*Original Story*

News has leaked early about the next addition to the Street Fighter franchise, as number IV gets ‘Super’- sized. The news comes from French website JV247. Rather than just present the facts to you, we’ll give the news a little Gallic flavour, courtesy of Google translator.

“Little information filtered for instant about it except that it contains at least two characters more than the original game, namely T. Hawk et Juri. It also seems that it was created specially for the occasion.”

“Nothing has yet filtered about the format of the title (DLC or full game) or his or her platforms. It is possible to imagine that the game will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360.”

While Super Street Fighter IV is clearly undecided whether it will be a masculine or feminine game, it’s rumoured that there will be changes to the game engine that make it feel like a very different game to SFIV.

One thing’s for sure. If it’s half as good as Street Fighter IV was, then it’ll be at the top of the fighting genre. You’ll know when it’s released, as Andi will talk about nothing else on the podcast for months to come.

  1. Ohh great thanks you have to release this post the day I buy sf4

  2. I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ve just bought the BEST GAME EVER, and it will keep you going until this finally shows up.

  3. I don’t get it, is this an expansion? A free patch or entirely new game?

Because it looks no different from SSIV, I hope this isn’t going to be £40

  4. In the US that is.

In England it will cost exactly double the original.

  5. I for one, am actually looking forward to this game, I don’t really mind it being on another disk, rather than downloadable, as I love street fighter.

8 new characters, I wonder who will be returning ? Cody, Guy, hagger, may be more from SF3, may be more new ones !
Though I’ve never really liked T-hawk, tyipcal spammers character, one move wonders !

I will be preordering this as soon as it appears !!

  6. I’ve never been one to pass on an update for a Street Fighter game and this will be no exception. Really looking forward to the new fighters and tweaks. And I always love an excuse to get my fight stick out (cue Carry On sound effects).
