Back in February 2008, Starbreeze Studios revealed they would be working with EA to bring back a classic franchise they own.
“We’re already deep in development on Project RedLime and the team at EA is giving us the time we need to perfect our vision. We’re excited to bring a new perspective and gameplay innovation to this beloved fiction,” they commented.
Ever since that date, rumours were rife on what the game would be, with many predicting the franchise involved would be Syndicate – with a third gameĀ based on the original PC release, and the later follow up, Syndicate Wars, on the way.
It now seems the rumour is out in force once again, with GamesIndustry.biz now reporting that their sources have told them the game is real:
Starbreeze Studios is working with Electronic Arts on a new title in the Syndicate series, sources have confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz.
The studio, already responsible for critical hits The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Darkness, has been working with EA since August 2007 on the title, before confirming a collaboration in February last year.
If the rumours do turn out to be true, and both companies have being working on the game for over two years, then a reveal could happen very soon. Maybe even at this year’s E3.

Syndicate and Syndicate Wars were great games… both had a fantastic atmosphere. The sci-fi music from the latter still comes to mind every know and then.
Starbreeze are a promising developer and should be a great fit.

I loved Syndicate… I used to play it all the time on my old Amiga!! I’m still contemplating downloading it off the PSN. It’d be great to see this game in HD…. I too loved the soundtrack, very Vangelis like!
