LucasArts have announced solid release dates for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed worldwide on all platforms. The game will be available September 16 in the US and in Europe on September 19. The 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP and DS will all ship on those days in both territories.

If you have not been keeping up to date with the game then you probably won’t know that it is set between chapters III and IV of the Star Wars saga. In the game the player will control Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, and will be tasked with traversing across the galaxy to destroy the remaining Jedi. Lucasarts promise that “new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy” will be unveiled in the game.

Each version of the game will boast differences which are said to take advantage of the strengths of each console. The Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 versions will obviously be the more visually impressive, and will be based on LucasArts’ proprietary “Ronin” engine. Along with this it will boast impressive physics, dynamically destructible objects, and Euphoria (the same tech that is used in GTAIV) for character animation and artificial intelligence. A two hour long soundtrack is also been done for the game by San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

Then there is the Wii version, which will use the Wii Remote to simulate the ability to wield a lightsaber, while the Nunchuk attachment will simulate Force power use. The Wii version will also feature an exclusive two-player duel mode and five extra levels not included in other versions. The PSP version also gets some extras, which will be build around an exclusive “Historic Mode” that allows players to re-enact battles and events from the Star Wars films.
