Square Enix will fully disclose Luminous engine at Japan expo 2012

In a blog post at Square Enix, the company has announced that we’ll be seeing it at the Japan expo 2012 (July 5th-8th), and the Luminos engine will not only be displayed, but the future of how the company plans to use the engine will be disclosed as well.

As for gaming titles, the company plans to display Sleeping Dogs, Hitman: Absolution, and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts at the convention by hosting a special Q&A session with “Shinji Hashimoto, (Executive Co-Producer) and Yoko Shimomura (series composer).”

But perhaps most importantly, the release announces that we’ll be seeing the Luminous engine during the third day of the convention and discussing it with Julian Merceon, Square Enix’s Worldwide Director of Technology:

“You’ve seen the video, now find out first-hand from Julien Merceon (Worldwide Director of Technology) what the Luminous engine will be capable of and what it will bring to future Square Enix games.”

Here’s more information about Square Enix’s convention schedule:

“Naturally, being a Japanese company, we at Square Enix wouldn’t miss the opportunity to attend the Japan Expo to thank you, the fans, directly and this year we’ve got some extra special guests to make it an occasion you’ll never forget.

We’ll not only be down on the show floor with Heroes of Ruin, THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY and KINGDOM HEARTS 3D, but also up on the big stage presenting some of our upcoming games and talking with some special guests.

Sleeping Dogs

Take a stroll down Hong Kong in our open-world brawler. Investigating the Triads; Wei Shen walks the thin line between undercover cop and Red Pole in the Sun On Ye.

Hitman: Absolution

The Luminous engine will be the future of Square Enix, so we can’t wait to see the engine’s specifications and what it’s actually capable of creating. In the session, we hope to find out if the engine’s original video was an actual glimpse of Final Fantasy XV, and if the hardware needed to operate the engine is truly as next-gen as it’s graphics. More details as we get them, but keep an eye on the convention.
