Square Enix pull plug on rumored Hitman game. This song seems apt.

Through the power of LinkedIn profiles, it has been confirmed that Square Enix will no longer be working with their Montreal based studio on the once rumored next-gen Hitman title. The game has been cancelled.

The studio will continue work on an “unannounced Hitman game,” but it is for Android and iOS. The game was apparently officially canceled mid-2013, but no word got out to the public.

Square Enix’s original idea was to turn Hitman into a yearly franchise – akin to Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty, with IO Interactive and SE Montreal working on it in alternate years, but that obviously will not be the case now.

IO Interactive could still be working on the franchise, although that studio has remained quite for quite some time now.

As we said, this song seems apt.
