I wouldn’t risk it. The software works fine, its the actual process of updating that may screw your PS3. I updated mine within the first few hours of the firmware release and it worked perfectly. I didn’t know there was anything wrong with it though, and judging by the amount of complaints on forums, its just not worth the risk.

UPDATING NOW MAY MEAN THAT SONY WON’T FIX YOUR PS3 FOR FREE.

It took me a while to find as its been taken down from loads of places but anyway I finally found it and stuck it on a USB drive and everything seems to work fine.
