Sony announce SingStar Vol. 2 for PS3

We may have thought that the downloadable songs via the Singstore was going to put a end to more retail releases of Singstar for the PS3, but it seems that is not the case as Sony has just announce SingStar Vol. 2 for the console. Sony boasts that Vol.2 will have 30 new tracks on disc, a new harmony duet mode and a introduce PSP Remote Play functionalities to the series.

Although Remote Play seems a bit pointless for a title like this Sony hasten to inform us that it will be more helpful than we think, allowing budding singers to access the game using your PSP to browse, select and download songs from the SingStore so there’s a tracklist ready when you get home.

Furthermore, songs such as Kool and the Gang: Celebration, the Paul McCartney & the Frog Chorus: We all Stand Together and The Mamas & The Papas: California Dreamin’ have all be included on the disc to compliment the new harmony duet mode.

Nevertheless, we can’t quite figure how why Sony needed to release another disc version, surely all this could have been done via download.

I’ve been contemplating picking up Singstar but might hold off till this one is released. I have wondered however how you’re supposed to have 2 wired mics and the Eye Vision Camera plugged in when you’ve only got 2 USB slots on the PS3?! Anyone who has this…. could you shed some light please?

Will the content on Singstar 1 be available in Singstar 2? Also, when is Singstar 2 due out?

Ohhhh I see… thanks Thomas! That answers that question. Does anyone on the ‘inside’ of the games industry know about the songs from 1 being available in 2 etc.?
