In a chat with USA Today, Raven Software studio head, Brian Raffel, commented that their upcoming Activision published “thinking man’s” first-person shooter, Singularity, has a lot in common with the TV show Lost.

That would be the hope,” he respond when question on comparisons at a behind the scene screening of the game at the D.I.C.E video-game summit. “We don’t want people to feel we copied them, because we’ve been working on this for four years. The thing we do have above Lost is we are not so confusing.

Singularity is most well known for being a FPS that implements forms of time travel to make it unique. However, unlike TimeShift the time travel feature is much more deep-rooted into the gameplay, letting players age specific objects to take cover away from enemies, or even age enemies themselves to kill them.

Rewind options are available as well, letting the player target enemies to revert them to a placental state, which will also kill them, fill empty oil barrels with fuel to create explosive opportunities, or simply repair a broken bridge.

Shifts through time will also play a big part in the game, with the possibility of whole landscapes changing as the players moves through them.

Singularity is set to be rleeased on PS3, 360 and PC later this year, unless it guess delayed. We’re sure it’ll be on time though.
