Sega announce Virtua Tennis 2009, coming this May

Sega have just announced they’ll be publishing Virtua Tennis 2009 on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3 later on in this year in May. This will be the fifth adaptation of the long running series that first started out in 1999 back in the arcades

Sega boast that Virtua Tennis 2009 will let you take on “the world’s top tennis players in some of the most realistic courts to be found on gaming consoles.” Tthe likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, Andy Murray and Ana Ivanovic are already confirmed to be playable. Sega also boast that the game will have the official Davis Cup license, giving players the coveted opportunity to lead their country to glory!

Sega say that a bunch of detailed improvements to the classic feel of Virtua Tennis have being included, with player stumbling adding a new dimension to matches. An improved volleying, serving and net play system will also add a new dynamic to matches.

World Tour Mode is also back, now with a fully integrated online system, and a new online ranking system available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Furthermore, the ‘Court Game’ minigames are out in force again, with crocodiles, fruit and pirates just a few of the hazards you’ll have to face.
