Ricky Gervais to make GTA IV appearance

rickygtaiv_news.jpg

Info has emerged that Ricky Gervais will be making an appearance in GTA IV. Interestingly, he won’t be playing a character in the game, and will instead play himself, performing a stand-up routine in one of the Comedy Club located in Liberty City that you can frequent throughout the course of your time with the title. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Gervais has written and preformed new material to be used exclusively in the game, so if you’ve already heard all his other stand up stuff you’ll now have something new to laugh at.

Recent rumours have hinted that other real world people could be making an appearance throughout the course of the game as well, although Gervais remains the only one confirmed as of yet. However, it should be noted that his appearance does give credence that other will appear too.

Oh, and no, we don’t know if you can shoot him. Sorry.

  1. It’s GTA, you can probably shoot him. :)

    Nice touch.

  2. Rockstar have been tight lipped on the content of the Comdey Stores, as have previewers! I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS, RATHER THAN BEING TOLD WHAT TO EXPECT.

    THANKS!!!

Why does he get so much coverage? He’s not funny! I hope I can blow him away in GTA… now THAT would be funny!

  4. Yes he is very over rated. I thought Rockstar would have got someone much more funnier. Oh well here’s hoping I can walk up to the stage and smash a bottle in his face then rip off his head and shit down his stump.

Maybe they’ve had him cuz he’s cheap? I’m assuming all the proper ‘comedians’ wanted more money?

  6. Would this be regularly updated to be new shows, do you think? I think I read somewhere else that the shows would change periodically. Or would it be say Gervais doing the one show one week then another comedian the next?

    Either way, very cool news.

  7. A lot of people are complaining that they don’t like Ricky.. But’s it’s GTA so you’ll have complete freedom. If you like him then you’ll be able to listen to his standup and if you don’t then you could run on stage and kill him :) should be fun

  8. Of course you’ll be able to kill him, its GTA. Does the pope shit in the woods?

  9. Nah, i doubt you’ll be able to kill him. Drinkign sessions and comedy clubs are represented as custscenes as far as I remeber from Previews. You get to deal with the after effects.

  10. Guess some people are just too dumb to understand Ricky Gervais’ humour.

    Go watch Family Guy, morons.

  11. Not sure about this, seems a very good idead but I’m not into RG that much. I’ve seen the bit he does on gay animals which is class. But I read somewhere that he did jokes about sick children or something. Which is kinda wrong. If they got Dave Chappelle in that would be AWESOME.

  12. His jokes are IRONIC. Are you american?

  13. Is it Dark Zero’s policy to not credit sources? I believe it was free weekly men’s mag ShortList that revealed this on Thursday. Funny how many sites are passing off this news as their own

    @ Bob / bob
No, I’m English, and I find Ricky Gervais to be very boring. He was 1/2 of a writing team, yet the other half barely gets a mention!!

I prefer my comedians to be funny, and not self absorbed. He’s about as ironic as an american. I much prefer the likes of Billy Connolly/Dylan Moran/Lee Evans/Dave Spikey/Spike Miligan/Omid Djalili/Morecambe & Wise etc. etc. You know, the kind of people with some talent!

  15. I rule, i am the best comedian int he world, so stop your jibber jabber fool! get some nuts

I don’t think he’s over rated at all, its a sophisticated comedy, you don’t always get the deep jokes but when you do, you enjoy it. I have yet to see his GTA act. Should be good, his stand up is genious.

He’s almost as funny as Russel Brand.

    Now, that’s ironic.
