Richard Garriott in space: For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

It has today been confirmed that no one can hear Richard Garriott scream, as he is officially in space. In fact, he is aboard the International Space Station, where he will remain for the next ten days. Garriott is a games developer most famous for his work on the Ultima series.

The BBC report that he began his adventure aboard the Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft, which was mounted on a three-stage rocket as it launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, at 7:01 GMT on October 12. It was not cheap though, as reports estimate that the trip cost Garriott around $30m. Reports of him wearing a green Borat bikini during blast-off are unfounded.

Richard’s follows in the footsteps of his father, Owen Garriott, who spent 60 days on a US space station all the way back in 1973.

We hope he brings us something nice back.
