Race Driver GRID goes gold

Codemasters have tossed up an update on the games official community forums to inform fans that Race Driver GRID, the latest addition to the TOCA Touring Car series has gone gold, and the 360 and PS3 submissions have being approved by Microsoft and Sony. This means that the game has now been sent of for manufacturing ahead of release.

If you are still not sure if you should part with your cash to pick it up we’ll remind you there is a demo of the game on the PlayStation Store and on Xbox Live to help in your decision making.

I checked the demo out over the weekend. I loved the street race and Touring Car track race, but absolutely loathed the Japanese drift race. Does anyone know how much of the game is made up by the drift races? I’m hoping that you don’t have to complete drift races in order to progress through the game, else I won’t be bothering. It really put me off and ruined any of the fun I’d had in the other classes.

I hate drift events. I don’t get any thrills from driving slower and sideways for no apparent reason other than to show off how you can drive slower and sideways. I mean, honestly, how did this get popular?

Does anyone at Dark Zero know anyone at Codemasters who they could ask? I’d really like to know what percentage of the game is drift, and if you have to complete the drift races in order to progress through the game.
