PS3 2.40 firmware now available
Sony has finally released PS3 firmware 2.40, and has made it available via the PlayStation Network. If for some reason you are having problems downloading directly (maybe due to current server strain), they you can always download the firmware file to your PC from Sony’s official site and put it onto a Memory Stick (make a folder called PS3 and inside that make another one called UPDATE and stick the file in there), and update that way instead.
2.4 Firmware includes all the stuff you’ve always wanted for your PS3, including in-game XMB options, trophy support, bigger friends list capacity and loads more little changes.

The way the PS3 takes forever to download and install makes me think it could be quite easy to bugger everything up by simply turning it off halfway through. It would only take a few people to do this by mistake and you have a number of people saying the upgrade ruined their system.
Trophey support – does this mean they’ve activated achievements?

Wow, seems crazy they’d let something out without making fully sure something like this was unlikely.
Mine did not brick anyway, which is good news (for me)

I never managed to get online last night so didn’t get the chance to download the update. Wonder how long it’ll be before I can get my hands on it?

i downloaded 2.40 with no problems until i put cod4 in now all it does now is come up with downloading settings no online play which the game is ment for very peeeed
