Listen douchebags, in the game at least, the prince of Persia WASN’T IN PERSIA
he was traveling in India, and the whole movie is bullshit because it is nothing like the game. If it isn’t actually based on one prince of persia game, why the FUCK would you call it the sands of time?
You can’t take one element from the game and the title from the game and tell people to think of it seperately. Also, why the fuck is everyone white? They aren’t even tanned!! >:[ This movie is going to suck dick.

Persia is the former name for present day Iran. The change of name of the country happend in 1935 and the capital is Teheran. Tthe country has nothing to do with Turkey although part of their borders meet at some point. The Persian Empire was one of the great empires and one of the early centres of civilisation. If you know where Iraq is on map of the Middle East (everybody knows where Iraq is these days !) then look East and you will find Iran. The Prince of Persia movie is currently being shot in Morocco as this country has the right kind of scenery and facilities which would probably not be allowed in very religious present day Iran. Source of my information ? My daughty is on one of the film crews presently on location in Morocco.

If they include some Chronicles of Riddick style action with some good scenery and effects on top of a decent plot, it’ll do quite well. Might be a game->movie conversion that everyone actually enjoys!

As far as I know the modern day equivalent is Iran. Turkey was on the edge of the area controlled by the Persian Empire.

Neil, look at the dome/tower right below the sunset. That is NOT Persian architecture. Nonetheless, I am speaking in general, it’s the same in the game and media, Persians getting portrayed as Arabs. If you are interested in learning more about the Persian history and architecture Google search Shiraz and Persepolis. Here I’ll get you started:

Same story in the games, they dress the main character in outfits that are not what a Persian prince or royalty would wear.

I hope it lives up to the fun of the games, loved the series.

As for the Arab versus Persian comment. What architecture? The poster doesn’t really give you a very detailed image of the architectural style and as for the games, most of the buildings in the persian parts of them looked like good examples of Iranian design.

Persian/Iran is not the land of Arabs, they seriously need to stop portraying it like an “Arabic” nation. What is up with all the Arabic looking architecture and surroundings. They seriously need to get this straight as I am sick of media doing this. Creators and producers of this movie really need to look back and the history of Persian and learn what it was like.
