Prince of Persia movie poster released

It may still be over a year away, with a current release of June 19, 2009 planned, but it seems as if Hollywood is getting into full swing, and is already getting ready to heavily promote the upcoming movie based on the Prince of Persia series.

Recent details hint that the film will loosely follow The Sands of Time storyline of recent games, but will see some changes to better accommodate medium of film. The film will be directed by Mike Newell of Into the West, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Goblet of Fire and Mona Lisa Smile fame, and will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Disney will be in charge of distribution of the film.

It is rumoured that the film will make use of Parkour for many of the quick paced action sequences. Hollywood already used the style to great effect in the opening scenes of the last James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

so?. . . I’m comment no.2 . si rafel deramas ay pokpok. Prince of persia ROCKS! Hope this is not just a repeat of the game’s story line.

  4. no ur actually comment #3. woot comment #4!

  5. pretty cool! I’m looking forward to it.

  6. Persian/Iran is not the land of Arabs, they seriously need to stop portraying it like an “Arabic” nation. What is up with all the Arabic looking architecture and surroundings. They seriously need to get this straight as I am sick of media doing this. Creators and producers of this movie really need to look back and the history of Persian and learn what it was like.

  7. I hope it lives up to the fun of the games, loved the series.

As for the Arab versus Persian comment. What architecture? The poster doesn’t really give you a very detailed image of the architectural style and as for the games, most of the buildings in the persian parts of them looked like good examples of Iranian design.

    Anyway…yay :p

  8. Neil, look at the dome/tower right below the sunset. That is NOT Persian architecture. Nonetheless, I am speaking in general, it’s the same in the game and media, Persians getting portrayed as Arabs. If you are interested in learning more about the Persian history and architecture Google search Shiraz and Persepolis. Here I’ll get you started:

Same story in the games, they dress the main character in outfits that are not what a Persian prince or royalty would wear.

  9. Its a trap, made by Disney *Palmface*
