Portal could have came to XBLA

GI.biz reports that Portal, our #2 game of 2007 was supposed to come to XBLA, but Microsoft rejected it. Valve apparently offered the game to MS, but they said no, as the file size would have been over the 150MB limit the company currently places on most titles. It’s unknown if Valve made this offer before or after the game was release as part of the Orange Box

We’d love to do that. Right now it’s something we’d love to do. I’d love to sell Portal on Xbox live,” said Doug Lombardi, after been questioned about the availability of the game on the service. “[But] the platform holders aren’t doing that right now. There’s a size limit and all kinds of other things. We’ve asked them, we said we were open to it. So it’s a decision for the platform holder and how they want to make the games available and how much bandwidth they want to [allow].

We are sure this could have been a huge success for the company if it were made available, but there is no sense crying over every mistake Microsoft make.

  1. No mention of PSN but Valve seem a bit iffy with PS3. Following an XBLA rejection you’d think they’d be quick to show MS what a big mistake they made.

If Portal came to PSN I’d buy it..

Portal would have been a brilliant XBLA game!!! It would have been a 1000000% better than the shite they peddle on there!
