PlayTV launching this September

As part of todays Playstation Day events, which is kind of like a mayday but not best used if you want to inform people of your impending doom, Sony have revealed that PlayTV will launch this September at a RRP €99 (that about £80).

PlayTV is a twin-channel DVB-T tuner and DVR software which allows users to record television programs to the PlayStation 3 hard drive for later viewing. You can then move these recordings to PC or another hard drive later on to save them.

It will also boast one of those 7-day electronic program guide that makes the Radio Times seem pointless, and Remote Play options will be available too. It is still unknown if you can play games on your PS3 at the same time as it’s recording.

Or you could buy a regular TV recorder cheaper…
They’re really just hoping people are too lazy to buy another box aren’t they?
