Noel Gallagher says games responsible for knife crime
Oasis songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher has joined the debate on youth knife crime in the UK. Noel (who once expressed a wish for a fellow musician to “catch AIDS and die) was speaking to BBC Newsbeat at the Silver Clef Music Therapy awards when he shared his insight into this inescapable topic.
Gallagher (who has called Britain “a nation of moaning sissies”) said, “People say it’s through violent video games and I guess that’s got something to do with it. If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk [cannabis] and they come so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these video games, it’s really, really scary.”
Please, tell us more Noel!
When asked what the solution to this widespread problem might be, Noel “I’m true to myself, so f**k everyone else” Gallagher replied “I don’t even know what Cameron or Gordon Brown are going to do about it.”
Noel (who is known for his prolific use of the word c**t) said it was “a pity scumbags are taking over our streets. In my day, status was trying to be somebody, do you know what I mean, not trying to kill somebody?”
Next week, Noel Gallagher solves the crisis in the Middle East. Stay tuned!

If somebody talking to me looked like that, I wouldn’t listen to a thing they said. He looks as high as a kite, and about as smart as one too.
“If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk [cannabis] and they come so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these video games, it’s really, really scary.” - Yeah right, I bet he was smoking ’super skunk’ when he said all this bull. The type of ‘kid’ hes talking about couldn’t even afford a video game console, and that’s probably part of the problem. Nothing to keep them entertained, so they find other ways to be entertained.

To be honest, while I can’t fucking stand Oasis, I’ve often found Noel to be pretty coherent and sensible during interviews. He does come out with some utter shit sometimes, though.

TBH I Actually agree to some degree that games like GTA negatively affect the way young people perceive violence. I think it can only be a bad thing when young kids get their hands on such a game. That being said; I am a huge shooter fan and I love gaming.
I’m just sometimes a little disappointed that the gaming community are so ready to pounce on any negative comment regarding games.

I agree that children should not be playing games like GTA, as they haven’t always developed the mental capacity to distinguish reality from virtual reality. You need a bit of intellengence and life-experience to fully appreciate GTA anyway.
The fact is that it’s an 18-rated game, and if a parent is happy for their child to play it then they are either confident that their child is mature enough to handle it, or they’re a crappy parent anyway (in which case violent videogames is probably the least of the kids problems.)
