Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Has Passed Away

A short statement by Nintendo has announced that president Satoru Iwata has passed away at the age of 55, due to a bile duct growth. This news has come as a shock to all of us.

As well as being partly responsible for the creation of Kirby, Balloon Fight and Earthbound, he was at the forefront of Nintendo’s online public image. Iwata brought his genuine liable personality to the Nintendo Directs, showing that he had a sense of humour.

His Iwata Asks series of interviews have been brilliant in unearthing anecdotes and information about what it’s like to work in Japanese game development.

Nintendo will not be the same without him and he will be sorely missed.
