Nintendoland Lost

Nintendo have yanked Nintendoland from the US Wii U eShop

Nintendo are acting suspicious, and have removed the digital download version of Nintendoland from the US eShop. The game is still available on the Euro arm of the eShop – so whatever the problem, it is not a worldwide one.

When you look to download the game in the US, users are told that the game is “Wii U Retail Only,” with another section of the product page detailing the game is “Unavailable in Nintendo eShop on Wii U.” Euro users are told the game is available as a “Wii U (Disc/Download).”

Nintendoland was a launch game for Wii U, and was available as a download – if you could get past that HUGE patch – from day one, November 18, 2012. It is not known when exactly the availability to download was revoked, but reports on Nintendo’s own forum have users questioning its removal from November 2nd onwards – meaning that (at the time of writing) they have made Nintendoland a retail exclusive in the US for well over a week.

Nintendo have yet to give a reason for the removal of the game as a download, and why the issue only affects US regions. Maybe it is all just a huge mistake?
