Nintendo announce DS-i, new version of DSlite

At their super great conference taking place in Japan right now, Nintendo have kicked things off by announcing a brand new version of the DS called the DS-i. The new handheld will be 2.6mm thinner than the Lite, and will have no GBA slot, which means the Guitar Hero: On Tour games now has a bit of a problem, and do the rumble-pak expansions. The unit will also be 12% smaller in mass than the Lite as well.

The unit will also boast a camera, which is regretfully only 3 megapixels, and three lights that blink on the top left corner. We don’t know why they blink just yet! Photographs taken with the camera can be altered with a built-in program by using the touch screens. There will be a SD card slot included, and a an Internet browser will be built into the handheld. The screens on the unit will be increased in size too, and will now both be 3.25 inches.

The console will be available in White and Frosted Black on release in Japan, and No Euro or US date is planned as of yet for the new handheld.
