MS confirms US 360 price cut & new 60GB model

Rumours of an Xbox 360 price-cut have refused to go away, and Microsoft yesterday confirmed the good news, if you live in the US or Canada that is.

The current 20GB ‘Pro’ model will be replaced with three times the storage capacity, as the 60GB model goes on sale next month at the same Estimated Retail Price of US$349.

The 20GB will now see a price-cut of $50, and will drop to an ERP of $299 “while supplies last”. The Arcade 360 (which lacks a Hard Drive) is still selling at $279, which begs the question why anyone would buy that when they can get 20GB of storage space for just $20 more…

The 120GB Elite model has not been given any official price-drop, but Amazon.com has reduced their price for the slick-black SKU from the ERP of $449 down to $399.

There has been no word from Microsoft yet on the possibility of seeing the 60GB Xbox 360 outside of North America.

  1. This will only add further confusion to those wanting to buy. Maybe that is what they are hoping for, that those unsure which to get will play it safe and get the Elite.

I really don’t see a point to the Arcade 360.
