Middlesbrough win the Carling Cup!

It’s an historic day for Teesside today as Middlesbrough FC have finally won their first trophy after 128 years of trying.

Joseph Job put Boro 1-0 up inside 2 minutes following great link-up play from Gaizka Mendieta and Bolo Zenden. Job turned provider 5 minutes later, winning the penalty that Zenden converted.

Bolton found a way back into the game when Scwharzer let a Kevin Davies shot slip past him, but the Aussie ‘keeper redeemed himself with a string of fine saves.

Boro deserved their win on the day and will play in next season’s UEFA Cup.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and get drunk!!
