Mario Party 8 Recalled From Stores

All currently unsold copies of Mario Party 8 have been recalled from stores by Nintendo, the reason for the recall is exactly the same as the one that cased Ubisoft’s Mind Quiz to be recalled a few weeks back, as it contains the word ’spastic’.

In a effort to try and dodge around the mishap Nintendo have commented: “Unfortunately we have discovered that a small number of games contain the wrong version of the disk due to an assembly error. We have therefore decided to recall all copies of the game from UK retailers so that this mistake can be corrected.

This is the second game on a Nintendo platform to be pulled for using the same word. I bet their Q&A teams are getting a right spanking right now.

Both games were originally Japanese language titles, and both were most likely translated by different teams so it seems both teams could be directly translating from whatever Japanese word was... maybe the Japanese equivalent may not be deemed as offensive over there and thus it is sliping through so much. It seems weird it is happening so much now though, the worst we used to have was 'all you bases are belong to us'
