Mario Kart is good for many things – like selling bucket loads and making Nintendo rich. However, Vail Christian High School over in the US have found that it also helps to show how driving when distracted can be dangerous.
The tests they preformed show students how dangerous it is to drive while using a mobile phone or reading by making them play the game when preforming such tasks.
So, what were the results? “Several cows have been hit today,” says Kim Greene, the teacher in charge.
Moo Moo Meadows is blooming evil track anyway – distracted or not!

This is just a hype for the whole game I feel, I would say there are lots of games similar to Mario Kart. If you think to so then those games are also helping students to drive safe but I don’t think a game can help you in real life in any way. well my personal opinion though.

Mario Kart teaches them nothing except the obvious of 2 objects being inable to occupy the same space at the same time.
British high schoolers should be taken to legoland winsor, theres a go karting ride there but before you can play it you gotta pass a driving test.

Well if you take in consideration that is not a tap of a button instead a driven wheel, i think yes, it can help them to realize it, because they are driving the wheel and at the same time doing other things, therefore no other driving game on a console can say that

But you can play most racing games with a wheel. I dare say playing Burnout is more likely to teach them something, since you travel far faster.
I stand by my assersian it will teach them nothing, compared to lego land winsor!

You have to be kidding. Using MarioKart to teach kids to avoid obstacles is like using Lara Croft as an example to teach them not to go to dark places alone!
The big worry is that kids just see the fun in it and bypass the lesson as a result.

I would love be able to throw blue shells out the window while driving in real life. Unfortunately as R4i states, using Mario Kart’s probably the worst example to let anyone learn how to drive from, though I would have loved to play Mario Kart at school.
