Long Bioshock PS3 install likely (Update)

Update: 2K has commented on the matter to Talk Playstation, and have said the game will have an install that is “around 5 or 6 minutes” at most. This honestly makes much more sense, and is a better conclusion to come to if you’ve read BBFC listing correctly. In fact, everything makes much more sense when you don’t write a news article late at night. Sorry 2K, sorry readers, sorry internet. Now, would you kindly disregard what we previously reported on the matter?

The release of Bioshock on the PS3 may still be a long way off, but according the BBFC – who have recently rated the upcoming game – players will apparently have to sit through a 24 minute install before they venture into the dystopian city of Rapture. We say apparently, as the listing is not very exact in it’s wording, and just remarks “00:05:24:00 BIOSHOCK PS INSTALL VID FINAL.BIK” as part of their listing.

However, if their comments turn out to be accurate, then a 24 minute install is about the same as the ones we sat through before playing Haze and Devil May Cry 4, and they were about 5GB in size.

Maybe we should start clearing out some space on our PS3 hard-drives?

  1. This isn’t news.

  2. How on earth could you interpret that as a 24 minute install? That would make the 5 in front of it 5 hours. So I guess us PS3 owners will be sitting through a 5 hour 24 minute movie while the game installs, right?

It’s a 5 minute and 24 second install, bad editing right here :/

It’s not bad editing. It’s bad journalism.

  4. Unless you think the credits roll for 49 minutes, or that these two are actually 5 hours long, I suggest you edit your blog before the whole internet knows your website and the quality coming out of it.

  5. The hell?

I’m here thinking it was actually 24 minutes. Check your shit before you post it.

  6. Stupid dum 4ukin article makes no sense. Where does the 5 go? To lala land? waste of time.

  7. Geez what an idiot blogger. Man you guys are just desperate as hell when it comes to trying to start console war shit.

  8. 360 fanboy

  9. You have to admit though that the PS3 is this generation’s Sega Saturn. Actually no, the Sega Saturn had a handful of worthwhile exclusives.

^^^Hahaha what a bunch of losers. They actually are getting angry at you over a simple mistake. What kind of immature f*uckwit is so obsessed with video games that they get pissed off over such simple matters?

Go back to slagging each other in the gamespot forums, idiots.

no need for clearing my disk, I replace it some time ago with a 120g one for 30 bucks, far more cheap than the expensive 360 120g one

  13. DMC4 didn’t seem to take 24 minutes unless something is wrong with your HHD….it took me under 15 minutes to install….

Really DZ, how dare you update a simple mistake that you made with a perfectly reasonable apology. Your efforts to bring us up to the minute news almost made me the laughing stock of a bunch of people on the internet that I’ve never met and never will. To think those Xbox fanboys very nearly mocked me for my ownership of a Playstation 3 based on your ill-informed-yet-quickly-updated-and-amended article.

    Shame on you!

Also, Devil May Cry 4 took 23 minutes and 48 seconds, how dare you suggest any differently.

  15. who cares even if there was a 24 minute installation (which there wont be) who cant find something to do for 24 minutes and also these installs cut down on loading times and in game lag. on the 360 when uve been playing for long periods of time then start to play bioshock or any other game the game starts to lag even if offline as the 360 cannot last very long when played none stop installs are annoying but necessary.

ps3 trophies are better then achievements because ppl like to have them if they can get them but sont judge you and call you a noob for having to little or a sado for having to many as happens often on the 360.

I’m sorry Tony, but that sounds like complete rubbish to me. My 360 gets played more than any other console I’ve owned and I’ve never experienced this, or heard of anyone who has. If you’d like to show me some proof that this isn’t in your mind, I’ll happily change my opinion.

  17. well im sorry but your the liar ive had 3 xbox’s and every 1 of them becomes slowed down after long periods of use it happens on all 360’s it a fault with the laser well thts what they said wen i had to get my 360’s replaced it starts off as slow down and in some cases leads to RROD or other hardware problems but the ps3 also freezes some times and the wii’s games are boring after a few plsys no consoles perfect and is never likely to be for many years to come

  18. That may be the case Tony. But you shouldn’t use your own personal experience as a generalisation that this happens to every Xbox 360.

I’m also on my third 360, and I have had this problem with none of them. Sounds like you’re just extremely unlucky, matey-boy.

All the flamer bastards need to chill the fuck out. Why even waste your time posting here complaining? You guys are fuckin nerds complaining about such pointless shit. Wouldn’t you think loading times are trivial to a game?
