Kojima admits MGS V might not make sense so, just like all the other games in the series then?

In a quick chat with Kotaku, Hideo Kojima commented that due to the position of MGS V in the timeline of nonsense that is the Metal Gear games, the nonsense of Metal Gear Solid V might not make a whole load of sense under close inspection. It is a game set after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but before the PSX’s Metal Gear Solid, so it’ll be hard to shoehorn in some story that does not seem a bit out of place.

Although nothing would really seem out of place in MGS – even a talking broccoli, Seriously, put a talking broccoli dressed in military garb in, call him “The Green,” and that would be fine. People would debate it on Internet forums looking for the true meaning behind the character, the the cosplay community would go crazy!

behold-the-green“Behold The Green!”

Anyways, I am getting of topic…

I’m pretty sure that the guys at Star Wars had the same issues. When you try to write something that was supposed to be in the middle there will be some inconsistencies when you go into very small details,” comments Kojima on his broccoli related conundrum.

The most important part is writing something that is fun, something that is impressive, something that is better than it was before. So sometimes in the interest of doing this, of having a better experience, we sacrifice some consistencies in the story. I hope the fans and players understand this, but I need to write the best we can, even if there are some small discrepancies.
