Jack Thompson says GTA IV worse than Polio

jackpolio_news.jpg

After seeing everything that GTA IV has to offer Jack Thompson has now aired his opinion on what he thinks GTA IV offers this world. In our opinion he starts of alright, but get more crazed the more he writes, and finally hit the ball straight out of the park with his finally words.

He comments: “Indictments should be returned against Take Two corporately and its Chairman, Strauss Zelnick, along with other Take Two officers. Indictment should also be against Sony and Microsoft which are making this pornographic game available to minors, and openly so, on their PS3 and Xbox systems.

He goes on: “Further, indictments should be handed down against Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameStop, and all other retailers distributing this game to minors at their retail stores, openly, to kids who are only seventeen.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the gravest assault upon children in this country since polio, We now have vaccines for that virus… The ‘vaccine’ that must be administered by the United States government to deal with this virtual virus of violence and sexual depravity is criminal prosecutions of those who have conspired to do this.  If you doubt me, look at the aforementioned streaming audio/video. It will make you sick” he concludes.

I whole-heartedly agree! With the retailers facing prosecution that is! They’re the ones selling ADULT games to CHILDREN/MINORS!!!!

Maybe Mr Thompson ought to use his tireless energy for good for a change…. instead of the crazed ramblings in a search for sensationlist headlines, maybe he could help tackle the real problem…. that of complete ignorance and idiocy on the parents and retailers parts?

  2. If a madman fires a scatter gun then he’s bound to hit something. Hes right about the fact that stores should not sell these games to minors, but he is wrong about absolutely everything else, including his motivation of making such claims in the first place.

  3. Er, I’m pretty sure most shops are pretty strict about adherence to age ratings, especially the big chains like the ones Jack mentioned. It’s bad parents buying the game for their kids that are the problem.

I agree. Its the parents and older siblings who are at fault. Shops won’t do it because there are huge fines for doing so where I live (something like $10000).

As far as I can see, there is no real way to stop family buying these games for minors, well not completely anyway. But a good solid ad campaign wouldn’t hurt.
