Itagaki to move away from Ninja Gaiden

When talking to Kotaku about his work on the series Tomonobu Itagaki has remarked that Ninja Gaiden II will be the last time he works on the franchise.

Personally I think we were able to create the definitive 3D game in this series so I’m not planning on making any other games in the series,” he commented through a translator. “So I hope fans treat this as a swan song for the franchise.

He went on to say that he does not want to continue to work on making similar games over and over again, and instead wants to take on something new. Something “that is completely unrelated to anything I’ve done before. Not any part of any existing franchises,” were his words.

He then went onto talk about Flags Of Our Fathers, Letters From Iwo Jim, World War II and spacemen. Yes, spacemen.
