Infinity Ward to be exclusive CoD developer

Next-Gen.biz report that after the release of CoD5 later this year Infinity Ward is set to become the exclusive developer of the Call of Duty franchise. This follows a deal with Activision and IW to stop the franchise been farmed out to other developers to get more games with the CoD label to hit shelves each year.
Interestingly, the site goes on to reveal that before this deal was made the publisher had planned to let many other developers use the CoD name to build a game around. Not only was Treyarch (the developers CoD3 and the upcoming CoD5) set to develop games based on the licence, but the soon to be closed Activision Underground was working on a third-person action adventure game spin-off as well.
It should be intresting to see how Treyarch handle CoD5 now seeing as it will be thier last effort at the series.

Treyarch will probably treat COD5 like they did COD3 and make an amazingly average game! IMO WWII has been done to death, which I think is why COD4 has been so popular… a breath of fresh air to the series if you like….. I hope Treyarch prove me wrong however!

Mark this one up to rumour by the looks of it. Activision have confirmed, much to my dissatisfaction that Treyarch and IW are to continue alternate releases of COD.
Or so says Eurogamer.

i can only hope that this reaches someone important. please please do not go back to world wad two! call of duty 4 was a special game because it was different. if it goes back to world war two than it is just like medal of honor. there will be no difference between the two. you dont get the most sales in company history and just turn it around that makes no sense! if call of duty 5 goes back to world war 2 i wont buy it! it will flop trust me!
