The latest Quartermann piece on 1UP/EGM comments that Halo may very well be coming back in 2009, and will be a break from the Halo norm, in effect been a spin-off from the series. According to the reports their “spies” have told them gamers should expect a third-person action/adventure shooter hybrid based in the Halo universe in the future. The game will also apparently take a step backwards in terms of chronological order, and tell a story of what happened before the original Halo instead of following on from what happened at the end of Halo 3.
Further details comment that this may not be the Peter Jackson Halo Project that remains so mysterious at the moment, and it will still be helmed by Bungie instead of the new team that is supposedly being formed for that game. WETA Digital, the New Zealand based digital visual effects company are however believed to be involved in some capacity with this rumoured title.
If these rumours are to be believed that we still have quite a long wait to see some concrete details, with nothing supposed to be revealed until after Gears of War 2 ships later this year.
