It may have happened a bit later than expected, but after 105 days, or 2520 hours, or 1512000 minutes, or somewhere around 9072000 seconds if you want to be exact the ‘Heroic’ map pack for Halo 3, which was first released on Xbox Live on December 11 of last year is now finally free to download. Like we told you a few days ago the pack boasts three new maps for you to play around with (Standoff, Rat’s Nest, and Foundry). Also, because the maps are now free, and everyone has access to them, the three maps will now be added to normal matchmaking rotation, and those who did own them before will no longer have to select a separate option to play them anymore.
So, If you did wait all this time for the pack to become free why would you waste a second longer? Go download it now!

I was really looking forward to these but when upon seeing the names I realised I must have bought them when they first appeared!
Of the 3 standout looks nice but felt a bit lacking in substance, though to be fair I’ve not played on that a great deal.
Rat’s Nest is one of my favourites from all the Halo 3 maps. For those who don’t know, it’s basically designed for Warthogs as there’s a square road around the map edge. There’s nowhere to hide and it’s very entertaining, particularly at the side with a vertical drop when someone has the impact hammer.
