It may not be the most hard hitting, memorable way to announce a game to the world but the guys at RedOctane have just announced the existence of Guitar Hero III to the world via there official website. Interestingly the game was not announced in a nicely worded press release and there was quite honestly no fanfare what-so-ever as the game was revealed in the Knowledgebase section of the website.
In the QnA type section the question was posed "When is Guitar Hero 2 (II) Coming? Will there be GH 2 for Wii, PS3, XBox, Xbox 360, etc?" to which RedOctane replied with "Guitar Hero 2 for Playstation 2 launched 11/7/2006, Xbox 360 launched 4/3/2007 and both items are shipping now... Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007."
As you would expect absolutely nothing is known about the game at the moment but it should be intresting to see if Neversoft offer some different features for the different versions as each piece of hardware seems to have its own advantages. For example online mode and Wii/Sixaxis specific controllers could all be taken advantage of.
