GTA IV breaks 600k in one day
Although full details on the numbers will not be made available until Monday next week (5th May) Chart-Track have revealed that Grand Theft Auto IV broke many omelets to make some eggs, and as a result smashed sales records on its first day on sale in the UK.
In total the game sold 609,000 units on its first day, beating the record once held by it predecessor GTA: San Andreas, which stood at 501,000 units.
The game also broke 360 sales records, selling 335,000 units on the first day. Halo 3 was the previous holder of that record with 266,000 units.
Top PS3 sales were also smashed, and the game easily eclipsing the 80,000 copies Gran Turismo 5: Prologue sold on day one, shifting a total of 274,000 copies.

Just curious but does this include Online sales as well as pre-orders and retail outlets? It’s pretty impressive I must admit! IMO GTA IV is far better than Halo 3!! I’m loving this so much!
