GTA: Chinatown Wars coming to PSP

Rockstar confirmed today that the former DS-exclusive GTA: Chinatown Wars will be coming to Sony’s PSP in the US and Europe later this year. There will be both a UMD version and a digitally downloadable version for the new PSP Go.

Rockstar’s contradictionary press release first states that the game will be “specifically built for PSP”, but then that it will have “upscaled widescreen graphics”. Apparently the PSP version will also feature “enhanced lighting and animation, and all-new story missions.”

We gave the original a 10/10 in our Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars review, so we are optomistic about this port. But it will be interesting to see how Rockstar handles the loss of all of the excellent touchscreen elements and a seperate screen to put the PDA on.

  1. Very happy about this. Thank you R*

  2. Ditto. I sold my DS shortly before this came out, like some kind of massive idiot, so I’m really looking forward to playing it.

  3. I’m also quite pleased with this. I do have a DS, but I’m lazy, and digital download is far less hassle.

  4. not ready for digi download myself yet. I like my collection I’ve built over the years. Plus with GTA I don’t think digi will work (well not fully) I’m a big fan of the fold out maps and do use them. The manuals for the games have always been funny and I would miss that, and finally, R* have made some great game cases over the years. All the PC versions, right from GTA1 are awesome! well maybe GTA IV not so.

Im not ready also, i like to have a disc in the case, smell the brand new manuals, that take me back to my youth, and to see my collection side to the tv set, therefore i think im not ready for the digital distribution, i only hope they keep selling games in cases, no matter the format they are on it.

and for sean, im with seth on this one, i think you are going to regret it when the new zelda, mario and luigi rpg, and of course Scribblenauts hits the streets, man o man.. those games will rock.

  6. “smell the brand new manuals”

glad I’m not the only one, god I love that smell!

I think digi distribution can work, when i bought Sins of a Solar Empire for PC i got the boxed version as well as the digi. best of both worlds; shinny new box to add to the game collection and being able to run the game without the disc. win win. but thats PC
