Gears of War 2 got off to a good start by selling 2 million copies in its opening weekend, now just over a month later Epic Games have announced that their chainsaw-fest sequel has hit the next big milestone.
Vice President of Epic Games, Mark Rein said today “Microsoft confirmed to me this afternoon that Gears of War 2 sell-through surpassed 3 million units as of last week.” The original Gears of War took 10 weeks to hit the 3 million mark, but Gears 2 has done it in just 4 weeks.
The original game ended up shifting around 5 million copies in total, and Gears 2 was still the second-highest selling 360 game last week so it looks positive for the sequel breaking that sales record.
