Epic Movie[/intro] Today brings news that the fun to play, although not great to hear Gears of War is set to be made intro movie. The revelation seems much more solid than recent announcement of game to movie ties in and it seem definite that a movie will be made - although possibly not until 2009. The scribe of Collateral and Pirates of the Caribbean, Stuart Beattie is reportedly handling the screenplay for the movie and the games lead designer Cliff Bleszinski, will take a role as executive producer although crucially the movie has director just yet. "We wanted to make an entertainment property that's not just for games but for other media," Mark Rein, Epic's co-founder and vice president told Variety. "Our first and foremost philosophy is to do no harm, so we debated heavily the idea of doing a movie" Does anyone one else think that a movie based on GOW is a bad idea... sure that game was fun to play but the mythology behind seemed very weak. Can listening to some 'beefed up dude' saying "eat shit and die!" multiple times be really that intresting? Hopefully the movie will tell a different story than the game and hopefully reveal a bit of the backstory the franchise seems to have but Marcus and it pals did not hit on in the game.

It seems most of those stupid hollywood people think just because a game was good, it'll make a good movie. The story in gears of war isn't the reason it's good it was good for it's gameplay and you can't have that in a movie, feck, surely there is more creative writers out there with much better stuff to be producing not GoW the movie. Just call it gears of whore and make a porno out of it, will do much better

Whatever happened to that Metroid Prime movie, starring Hallie Berry? That was supposed to be happening a few years ago.

Luckily it seems to be off the radar for now. there are some things that should not be in movies; Hallie Berry is one of them.
