Lost: Via Domus Not Canon With Show

In an interview with EW regarding Lost, and what’s happening with the current season Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have confirmed that the plot for Lost: Via Domus won’t necessarily be in canon with the overarching plot of the TV show. By the way, if you have not watched all the aired episode of current season we’d advise not reading the interview linked above, as it could easily spoil some stuff for you.

The mobisodes are in canon. The Orchid video is in canon. The videogame is not in canon,” comments Cuse when questioned about the many offshoots the show has spawned.

It’s unfair for the audience to go to ancillary sources in order to really understand the show. Even the things like the mobisodes, which are in canon, aren’t essential to your understanding of the show. These things are just added bonuses,” he concluded.

Finally, Lindelof also chimes in to comment “The only true canon is the show itself.”

Nevertheless, the game is still said to be better than most expect a licensed product to be, and judging by recent previews should be an interesting experience for fans of the show when it is released across Europe early next month.
