Freeloader On The Way To Wii (Play Import Games)

The idea of waiting months to play games on Wii does not make us happy. The wait for Super Paper Mario angered us to no end, and the current lingering for the release date of Super Smash Bros. Brawl is starting to make our blood boil.

However, recent developments hint that everyone’s anger could soon be coming to a end, as it seems that Datel are set to release a Freeloader disc for the Nintendo Wii. In fact, you can buy one at the link above now, but it is unknown if they are been shipped out immediately upon purchase.

Just like the version that was released for GameCube a few years back the disc will allow gamers to play games not native to their region – and most important for Europeans let US and JPN games play on our PAL consoles. The site linked to above reports that the disc will have the following features, and reminds us that the product is unofficial:

- Play ANY region of Wii or GameCube game on ANY Wii.
- Easy to use.
- No console modification required.
- Doesn’t invalidate warranty.
- Play games never released in your region.
- Play local games on your imported console.
- 100% unofficial.

It’s currently unknown if upcoming Wii firmware updates could block the features of the disc. However, it is likely Nintendo could try to stop anything that involves importing as that is not beneficial to them making profits.
