ESRB rate Bayonetta, it has ‘gyrating’ and panning on breasts that are ‘jiggling’

The US games ratings board, the ESRB, has rated the upcoming Platinum Games developed Bayonetta. As you’d expect the game has been given a Mature rating, with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, and Suggestive Themes cited as the reasons for the rating.

The ESRB go into more detail on the rating, commenting that “players use hand-to-hand combat, magic attacks, and pistols to kill enemy creatures that often spray blood when hit.” Furthermore, it is said players can use “torture attacks” on creatures to kill them, impaling them with an iron maiden, decapitating them with a guillotine;, or dismembering them with a chainsaw.

The ESRB go onto comment that “[d]uring the course of the game, some female characters perform suggestive taunts and poses, including opening their legs or gyrating their hips. Some of the more provocative outfits are shed during battle, resulting in brief depictions of buttocks and breasts

As one of the last reasons as to why the game was rated Mature, the ESRB state that the it contains moments where “[t]he camera occasionally pans close-up on breasts as they are jiggling.”

Bayonetta is set to be released this Fall on PS3 and 360. Thanks Platinum Games, you are awesome!
