Electronic Arts have today jumped to support the Wii once again in announcing a brand new IP for the console – the new game will be called Boogie. EA boast that Boogie is a unique music/rhythm-based game that takes advantage of the innovative Wii controls to get gamers off their couch, playing and dancing to a new beat. Or in other words it may be one the first third party games that won’t feel like the waggale was a tacked on extra.
“We’re creating something new and different for gamers of all ages to enjoy; the complete party package where gamers can dance as well as sing,” said Alain Tascan, Vice President and General Manager, EA Montreal. “Nintendo’s Wii is an amazing console that really gives us a platform to be creative and to re-think traditional game development.”
EA hope that Boogie will have gamers dancing, singing and starring in their own music videos. they revealed that players can also choose and customize different characters in the game to best show off their dancing style and karaoke skills – the mention of ‘karaoke skills’ seem to hint that the rumored Wii Mic is on the way but their is still no confirmation on that yet. The game also boasts innovative gameplay that EA stress perfectly matches the unique Wii controls.
No mention of a release date is known as of yet but it seems very likely a game like would take advantage of a holiday season release. Hopefully we may get our hands on it a bit eariler than that.
