E4 To Air British Academy Video Games Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts today announced that E4 will be filming this year’s British Academy Video Games Awards for a one-hour special to be broadcast at a later date. The awards ceremony will reward the individuals behind the very best in artistic, creative and technical innovation for video games, and will be held at the historic Roundhouse on 5th October, hosted by Vernon Kay. The programme will first be broadcast on E4 on 17th October and then repeated on Channel 4 as part of their T4 strand on Sunday mornings.

Sangeeta Bhaskar, Deputy Commissioning Editor T4 & Music, said, “There is a great synergy between the E4 audience and fans of video games – and we’re really pleased to be part of an innovative event like this, and to be there right from the very beginning“.

Paul Jackson, chairman of the BAFTA Games committee commented, “With The 2006 British Academy Video Games Awards broadcast on E4 we will be reaching the people who are most in touch with the world of videogames. This will ensure The British Academy Video Games Awards reach a widespread and relevant audience and provide the benchmark of quality for the year’s best games.”
