Conduit devs reveal Gladiatorial Wii fighter

Speaking to IGN yesterday High Voltage Software, who are currently finishing off The Conduit, revealed that they are working on Gladiator A.D, a fighting game for the Wii set in the days of the Roman Empire.
The developers describe the gameplay as “fast, strategic combat.. with an RPG-light twist”. Some battles will be the traditional one-on-one style, while other arena bloodfests will be more complex.
There will be many playable characters ranging from the Dark Druids of Amesbury, to the daughter of an Egyptian priest. Each will have their own unique storyline, backgrounds, fighting styles and motivations. Gladiator A.D. will also support Wii MotionPlus to allow for more precision battling.

In classic Colloseum style, players can choose to be ruthless or forgiving, with the choice having repercussions that will affect the storyline of that character. And of course there will be a ton of weapons to choose from, and two-player multiplayer is confirmed. High Voltage are currently aiming for a Q1 2010 release.
Just like with The Conduit, High Voltage is aiming to fill a gap in the Wii market, and to be honest, are there any good fighting games on the Wii besides Smash Bros?
You can read our hand-on impressions of The Conduit over here, and an interview with High Voltage Software over here. These developers also have another unannounced Wii title in the works, and it’s likely that this will be revealed before E3, so stay tuned!
